My name is Jamie Mallais and I'm the owner of YOGI FIT. I began practicing yoga in 2006 to relieve stress from University life. When a new hot yoga studio in Hamilton opened up near the University after I graduated I was ecstatic and began working in their Energy Exchange program - cleaning the studio in exachange for unlimited yoga. I was a part of their program for about a year until I moved to Etobicoke. After we moved, another hot yoga studio opened up nearby in 2012 and immediately I joined their EE program. A year later I was off to Teacher Training in Los Angeles.
I am currently a certified yoga & barre fit instructor with 700+ hours worth of training under my belt. My teaching journey began with 2 Children's Yoga Certifications. I completed one at The Yoga Sanctuary in June 2011 and the other is from Young Yoga Master's in October 2011. I completed my 300 hour certification at Moksha Yoga Los Angeles in California in March 2013 and completed my 200 hour distance training over the rest of the year following.
I have been dancing since 1999 and it is one of my greatest passions. After dancing for 16 years, I stopped. Because I missed it so much I decided to get my barre fit certification in June of 2015. I received my Vinyasa Flow (Moksha Yoga) in May of 2015 and my Yin Yoga certification in June of 2015.
I also began jogging in winter 2012 and I've made it a part of my weekly workout routine. I've run a few different races such as the Harry Rosen 8k, Sporting Life 10k for Camp Ooch, & the Toronto Waterfront 10k. My goal is to be able to run a half marathon race by September 2018.
